Polar Bear COFFEE ROASTERS is an independent coffee roaster based in Trondheim, Norway, focusing on high-end specialty coffee. 

The roastery is a spin-off from the popular café in Trondheim, Café Le Frère, for whom the popular signature espresso, Espresso Nostalgia—a taste of southern Italy—was developed.

Polar Bear COFFEE ROASTERS are inspired by the nordic light (Aurora Borealis) when fine-tuning the roasting process to showcase the inherent liveliness in coffees offered.

Filter coffee protocol and main profile is on the lighter side (so called “nordic roasting style”), but we also offer medium and darker roast. 

 Polar Bear COFFEE ROASTERS liaises further with green specialty coffee sourcing companies like Nordic Approach, BELCO, Sucafina and DRWakefield to name a few.

We use the following roasting machines:

  • Test roaster: FZ-94 Lab 

  • Production roaster: Mill City 10 kg

Polar Bear COFFEE ROASTERS was awarded 4th place in the Norwegian national coffee roasting competition in 2025.
