Polar Bear Coffee Roasters is an independent specialty coffee roastery based in Trondheim, Norway.

The roastery grew out of the popular Trondheim café Café Le Frère, where the house espresso Espresso Nostalgia was developed—inspired by the bold and comforting espresso traditions of southern Italy.

Inspired by the Nordic light—the same light that creates the Aurora Borealis—our roasting philosophy leans toward the Nordic style: lighter profiles designed to express origin, structure, and sweetness.

At the same time, we also develop medium and darker roasts for espresso traditions that demand depth and body. 

We work closely with specialty coffee importers such as Nordic Approach, BELCO, Sucafina and DRWakefield to source traceable coffees from dedicated producers.

In 2025 Polar Bear Coffee Roasters placed 4th in the Norwegian National Coffee Roasting Championship.
