Uganda - Bunyangabu
Bunyangabu District, Western Uganda · Altitude: 1,300–1,600 m
Varietal: SL28, SL34
Process: Washed · Oro yeast fermentation
Cupping notes: Vibrant and complex with tropical fruit, spice and a long finish
Flavour: Cinnamon, tropical fruit, chocolate aftertaste
Description
This experimental washed lot comes from Bunyangabu washing station in Western Uganda, where smallholder farmers deliver cherries grown on the surrounding hills.
After careful sorting, the cherries are pulped and placed in fermentation tanks. Oro yeast is rehydrated and added to the wet parchment, helping create a more controlled fermentation and a consistent, expressive cup profile.
In the cup, Bunyangabu Oro shows a lively mix of tropical fruit, cinnamon spice and soft chocolate depth. Notes of stone fruit, black cherry and tea-like freshness add complexity, while the finish is smooth and lingering.
A bright and distinctive Ugandan coffee with plenty of character—best suited for filter brewing.
