Varietal: SL14
Process: Fully washed

Cupping notes: Structured and winey with balanced acidity
Profile: Balanced acidity, winey character, medium body

Description

This washed SL14 lot comes from the Bugisu region on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda, near the Kenyan border. The coffee takes its name from the Bagisu (Bamasaba) people, who have cultivated coffee in this region for generations.

Grown at elevations above 2,500 meters above sea level, the cool mountain climate allows cherries to mature slowly, developing depth and complexity in the cup. Smallholder farmers carefully harvest ripe cherries before they are processed using the fully washed method, producing a clean and structured profile.

Bugisu coffees are known for their rich, fruit-driven character and lively acidity. In the cup, this lot shows balanced acidity, a gentle wine-like character, and a medium body, creating a composed and versatile coffee.

Roasted light-medium to preserve clarity and highlight the nuanced character typical of high-altitude coffees from Mount Elgon.
